This is my Miqo'te from FFXIV. I have been drawing them for over a decade, they weren't originally from FF. They were created as a demon for a Supernatural RP group ages ago and just stuck in my repertoire since.

Originally named Grace, we are moving to Gray. I had been losing my touch with them as a character and after a while, was not sure how to play them anymore. As I am a she/they, I thought I was fine with them as they were. But they are more than an OC, they are an extension of me in a way.

My partner wondered if I was losing interest in them because of their gender and at first, I didn't think that was it. But more I dreaded losing their voice and didn't want to RP them. The more I considered that it may be the case.

With some checking to see how I felt about a Non-Binary version of them, I was excited to see them. Felt more appropriate with how I envision them nowadays.

So now, 10+ years of Grace shift into Gray. I have played with the idea of changing their gender before and had enjoyed lil tidbits of it. So, I guess that should've told me that they needed it.

Hair Midnight Blue with patches of red tip patterning concentrated around the back and sides of her head! Thick with the slightest bit of wave (often gets brushed out) Eyes Ruby Red Skin Very Light Olive with white facial stripes and darker pigmented nose. Tans well but never sticks for long. Tattoos/scars One visible scar on the cheek, multiple around her body which get glammed over. After endwalker, her right hand has a high concentration of scaring around the knuckles & palm (A consequence of her final fight in ultima thul and the proceeding surgery needed to reset the incorrectly healed bones.) She has various arcane geometric patterns marked into her skin in aetheric ink. One at the back of her neck, one on each forearm right above the inner elbow, one banded around her ankle. They are also glammed over to be invisible to the naked eye, but those who are well attuned to seeing aether would see them glow faintly as Arsay casts summoning spells.

Ishgardian Hyur, noble birth, 27 years old, lives on Mateus. (Non-binary; She/they)

A dour dark knight, haunted by their past and the path they now have to walk.

But beneath that lies a gregarious and social person with a snarky sense of humour and a true love of good conversation, good food, and good drinks. She'll be the first to admit to being a bit of a hedonist and play(tom)boy, living for the moment (and for their duty to the ones they've vowed to protect).

They value chivalry, loyalty, and determination, the last of which can occasionally make them a bit hard to get along with as once they set their mind to something, nothing short of a nuke is going to change their mind.

Vanille Brune

Ishgardian raised, Gridanian and Ishgardian by birth though. Peasant who married into nobility (above, also they're both polyamorous). 25 years old, lives on Kraken. (She/her)

She always wished to be a conjurer, but after learning the secret of her grandmother (a padjal who abandoned her duty to raise a family), took up the custom class Green Witch as an alternate offshoot of conjurer.

Generally she has a saccharine disposition and a gentle countenance that allows her to get along with practically anyone well - and reign back some of her wifehusband's more intense traits.

Her eardrum was damaged during her deployment with the Garlemald Contingent and she's worn a hearing aid ever since.

Gwyn Mahina

Traditional Keeper of the Moon, early 30's. Priestess of Menphina. Lives on Seraph (Any pronouns accepted, most default to she/her)

Gwyn has been arrested in Ul'dah for public indecency (what? getting naked when it's hot is natural?) and has a reputation for being just a bit weird. She's not really well adjusted to city life, but is determined to use her time away from the shroud to hone her knowledge in healing and the wider world.

Carefree to a fault.

Aranea Dusk

Another Ishgardian, though this time by adoption. 30's. She/her

She's bad news. She's evil. Interacting with her is probably bad for your health. She was abandoned by her Keeper clan as a baby and left for dead, and the matrons at the orphanage quickly found out why as strange things seemed to happen around her, bringing misfortune.

She was adopted by a kindly Ishgardian couple several years later and labors to keep her less-than-legal and less-than-moral activities from reaching their ears.

Originally created as a villain for another player's plot, I got kind of attached to her.

Lian Aman

Twilight Miqo'te; her father was a Keeper of the Moon and her mother was from the Zu tribe of Seekers. 29. She/her.

She holds both Ul'dahn and Thavnairian citizenship. Her life was one of struggle with poverty, sex work, and drugs after her mother's death. As a result, Lian became very politically active in Ul'dah, protecting the little folk from monetarist kidnappings and the slave trade that just seems to be tolerated for some reason. Eventually she chose to kick her somnus habit and travelled to Thavnair, where she joined a troupe of dancers.

Nowadays, she continues her political activities as a citizen of both nations, but she raises her children with her wife far from the dangers of the world in Shirogane.

Since I want to start posting more of my FFXIV content here why don't I do a little introduction to my oc and WOL Tafi Vaulr'ha!

Tafi is a 25 (by start of endwalker) year old Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te. They are non-binary using She/they pronouns and very bisexual. Family is from Gyr Abania but she primarily grew up in Ul'dah and that is still her home. They are an adept black mage and study the great magi war among other subjects often. Curious to a fault, stubborn at times, clever and sarcastic but can be quick to enrage, will beat you up in a back alley if needed. Closed off to most except some of the scions. Their ears and tail often give away their emotions though.

I ship her with G'raha Tia as well!!

Alright, I'm taking this as a point to talk about Gila, my main warrior of light.

-Gila is a moon Miqo'te and grew up in the forests of Gridania. She before her journey was always a girl and grew up with her mother and older brother. (She has a aunt, but she's a bitch)

-Her and Rin, her brother, never knew their father as he left home to become an adventurer to provide for his family. But they had their Uncle (He's not biologically related) watch over them whenever their tribe went to trade with Gridania. Something tragic happened to them, Rin and Gila got split from each other while their mom died.

-5 years after the battle of Carteneau, Gila started her journey, originally trying to find her brother and game canon takes place for a long while. One point in her journey, they realize, they don't strictly identify as a woman, man or non-binary, but really genderfluid. They use they/them to make it simple for people.

-Post Endwalker, Gila finds their brother. He heals up in ishgard after being found in Garlemald and post endwalker storyline happens. And currently they're getting ready for Tural.

That's pretty much all that is really needed to know about Gila Limani.

man, I am so inconsistent at tagging stuff when I post it that those two tags related to my WoL have different numbers attached to them >>; but yeah, that sums up a lot. I like to fill in gaps, and watch people cry and then get cuddled.

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?

When I re-read my own stuff, I find that I reuse certain turns of phrase a lot more than I thought I did, like there are certain verbal flourishes that my brain defaults to when describing particular actions or emotions. I just also really like delving into the underlying emotions and motivations of characters, and giving them space to breathe, to understand themselves and each other, to heal and recover and be loved. While I don't care to do that work with every single character, there are very few I could ever be convinced were truly beyond help if someone would.

Time for a rare (and possibly needlessly self-indulgent) OOC post about the player behind this quasi-functional miqo'te mage.

One of the reasons I've been quiet relatively recently is because I've been in the midst of a pretty big shift in my life -- coming out as a transgender woman IRL. There's a lot of ups and some really big downs, especially with the world being a fairly scary place right now for trans and non-binary people. Sometimes these lows drain away all my desire for RP or end up calling forth some pretty old anxieties and wounds I've got OOC, and sometimes I end up questioning other parts of my identity and being troubled about how those do, or don't, relate to various aspects of my RP.

I'm making this post for two reasons. One is to apologize for being less active than I'd like to be (I was trying to keep to one post a day at least, for instance). The other is to remind everyone that trans and non-binary people do exist and we could really use some support right now, emotionally and otherwise. I have some people in the community here who have been so caring and so loving to me, and without their help, I couldn't be where I am now.

Also, for anyone questioning out there who might think they're too old to transition: I'm 41 in real life at the time I'm writing this, and I can definitively say putting words to the pain I'd been feeling for decades and taking steps to fix it were some of the best things I've ever done.

No age is too late.

No time is better than now to start your journey.
